Day 5 in Adelaide.....actually IN Adelaide!!

Here we go, I'm on a roll so day 5 is ready to go....it will be shorter I promise but hopefully no less entertaining.

Today was city day, not only to show V what a lovely place this is (it may not have any wonders of the World or landmarks known to all, but beautiful it is indeed) and most importantly pick up our cash.  We caught the train into the city, which would have been rude not to as the station was a 2 minute walk from our unit and we were eating out with the gang later so alcohol would definitely be involved, and headed straight for the Western Union.

Which, we eventually found out was housed in the very beautiful Post Office in which you could purchase all manner of things from weather vanes to torches and all that comes in between.  My turn came and as I put down the 3 in 1 multi tasking tool that I had not idea what tasks it would perform but had me enthralled anyway, I headed to the counter where the lovely lady informed me that I could indeed pick up my money transfer here (I could have kissed her) but when I told her how much it was for and she said they might not have enough in the till I could have punched her.

V left the building and soon after so did I, thankfully with the full amount which they managed to scrape together by raiding their purses and children's savings accounts (that bit is probably not true but you get the gist).

With money in hand we preceded to explore the city, starting with the Adelaide Jail which on the map looked to be a rather nice stroll but actually turned out to be a 3km walk that almost finished the V man off.  And the sun was beaming down finally, warming our faces and making us wish we hadn't worn quite so many clothes....

But it was worth it as we wandered round the old jail, taken back to time of hangings and murder (there is a debate there somewhere) and seeped up the history and sun, taking the obligatory 'behind bars' photo and when we had had our fill we caught the tram back to our start point.

We carried on our wanderings, the beautiful buildings reading like a history book, telling the tales of a time when the city was being born, and as V grew weary we finished down by the river, taking in the sun and atmosphere, watching the World go by.

Soon we got the call that the gang had arrived so we headed back onto the tram to meet up, getting off and looking around to see where they were, only to be met with a shout out of my name that I would have been proud to claim as my own!

A lovely meal followed with wine and beer flowing and great company and laughter before heading on to the liquid nitrogen ice cream place, Fancy Ices for a chemically chilled candy flossed treat for pudding!

A short detour back to the local for a last pint saw us bidding farewell to the gang (this one consisting of Carrie, Tracey, Graeme and Brendan) before climbing into bed a little tipsy and looking forward to what day 6 had to offer.

And as I mentioned before, here it is already halfway through day 6 as a long awaited lay in for my boy was needed, so I sit in the glorious sun updating you all whilst he ready's himself for his choice of adventure today.  You will find out soon enough so until then just one thing remains....
